1. Floor furnace in the living room that doesn't heat the whole house.
2. A wall heater in the back half of the house that doesn't warm the back half of the house.
3. An evaporative cooler in the window that doesn't cool the whole house.
4. Most difficult an inch and half to two inch step between the original house and the addition.
5. My bathroom is in the middle of the house. (I don't think I can fix that at the moment.)
6. I have old windows. Now I have a couple broken windows.
7. I found a dead body in the alley behind my house and now I feel haunted.
There are a lot of reasons as to why. Here are a few.
1. I didn't have the money when I first purchased the house to fix some things.
2. I have been in school trying to get my Master's degree.
3. I work full-time.
4. I'm single.
5. I'm tired, stressed, bored, scared, etc.
6. I'm lazy.
To compound all of these issues I have to be honest and say that I am clutter king! I have so much crap I feel overwhelmed. I took a photo show of my house to show you and myself my foolishness. Lord! I don't know what to say about all the crap I got other than I sure love paper. It must be a fetish on my part - Paper and Books.
But a change is a'coming and I am ready. I think. I hope. I took out the money to fix a majority of these things. Because I've taken out a small home equity loan I am going to renovate my home and hopefully in the process Renovate Me. What scares me about it is that I am sort of foolish and lazy and I quit things half way through and I am afraid that I won't finish the job or I will do a half-assed job. I have to be kind to myself. I have to find a healthy balance between an old way of being and discovering a new part of myself. I hope that by starting this blog, I will be capable of sharing my progress, find comfort, ideas, and assistance from everyone out there. I'm not sure if my style is going to be right for everyone, but that doesn't concern me, I have to live in my home, in my own skin, and being true to my own self is all I can do. I am open to ideas and advice so if you have any, please feel free to share. I have a small budget $40,000 and I am trying to go as green as I can in my home so I know that I won't be able to accomplish all the things that I want to renovate, though I hope that advice from you will aid me in my goal of stretching these few dollars the furthest and finish as much as I can.
What I am trying to do with that money is this.
1. Replace floor and wall heater with a better heating system.
2. Replace the wall cooler with a central cooling system.
3. Replace the water heater with a tankless water heater.
4. Replace the plumbing in my current bathroom.
5. Add a master bathroom.
6. Replace my old carpet flooring.
7. Replace as many windows as I can.
8. Remove and Add walls to improve the flow of my home.
9. Paint the walls.
10. De-clutter.
11. Add a new front and back doors.
12. Love my self in the process.
Wow, that is a lot to accomplish. I believe that I will be capable of completing all these things. This blog is a step in the overall process. As the renovation unfolds, I will post pictures. I will read comments and try to respond to questions.
Thank you beforehand for taking the time to read my blog and walking with me on this journey.
